Match Reports

St Georges v Shrewsbury II

This match was originally due to be played at Shrewsbury.  On a very hot day, we began by presenting each of the U10's a St Georges cap, kindly donated by Central Cars.  A photo will appear soon on the website.  St Georges batted first, and reached their highest score of the season, with 351! They only lost 2 wickets. Top scorers were Tom with 23, Ryan with 16 and Shohaid and Michael both with 14.  A very smart looking team in their new caps came out to field. The fielding was their best all season and Shrewsbury finished on 265. Wickets were taken by Tom, Mark and Shelly.  Well done U10's a great finish to the season.

Wellingon I v St Georges

Wellington batted first, and scored 244 off their 20 overs.  St Georges took 6 wickets, the most this season.  Wicket takers were Shohaib, Awais, Shelly, Liam and Mark Tolley with one each, and an excellent run out came from some superb fielding.  In reply, we didn't start too well.  We lost 4 wickets and when the last pair came in to bat, we needed 14 runs off their 4 overs.  Tom set about the task, scoring 12 off the one over, but then Rachel was out to a really good ball.  We needed 1 run to win off the last ball. Tom and Rachel ran, and made it.  We won by 1 run! Well done St Georges.

St Georges v Cannock

St Georges (with 9 players) batted first and scored 241 after the loss of 7 wickets.  Cannoct replied with 325, also losing 7 wickets.  Best batting for St Georges came from Matthew Lees with 17, best bowling came from Ryan Locklin with 4 wickets.  Come on under 10's we will win one before the end of the season.

Wolverhampton v St Georges

We were completely out played by a very strong Wolverhampton side.  St Georges batted first and after losing lots of wickets, were reduced to minus figures.  A mention here to Shohaib who was the only player not out in our innings.  Wolverhampton set about their batting in the same way as they had their bowling and only lost one wicket.  They won by 161 runs.  Better luck next time St Georges.

Bridgnorth v St Georges

On a beautiful hot and sunny morning, St Georges lost the toss and were put in the field. A very good display of batting by Bridgnorth followed, only losing one wicket, which was a very good caught and bowled by Rachel Chesters. The reached 314 runs. St Georges batted positively, but lost 10 wickets, leaving them on 107 after their 20 overs. A shame we lost, but a good day in the sun was had by all.

St Georges v Wellington II

Unfortunately due to an under 10 festival, Wellington are unable to play on 1st June. We will try to rearrange the fixture, but availability of the Wellington squad is limited.

Shrewsbury I v St Georges

It was a very young and inexperienced side which stepped out for the first under 10's match of the season, but they all enjoyed it, despite losing by 77 runs. Shrewsbury batted first, and amassed a total of 307. They lost 2 wickets, 1 each to Ryan Loughlan and Rachel Chesters.

St Georges replied with 230, after losing 8 wickets. A good performance by Chris Birkett with 30 started the team off well, but strong batting and bowling by Shrewsbury and some slack fielding by St Georges, won Shrewsbury the match. I'm sure we'll do better next time.
